How To Perform a Session Trace on Mappings In OWB 11g (Doc ID 453777.1)

Last updated on APRIL 08, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Warehouse Builder - Version 11.1 to 11.2.0.4 [Release 11.1 to 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This note describes how to enable tracing for Oracle Warehouse Builder 11g mappings. It can be used to identify the cause of errors when running mappings, but also to investigate performance issues.

To enable a session trace on a mapping, it is required to know in which session the mapping is running. However, when running a mapping with the sqlplus_exec_template.sql script, a new session is spawned in the database. This makes it difficult to enable the session trace, and therefore a different execution method is required.

This note explains how to enable a session trace, without using the sqlplus_exec_template.sql script. It will not spawn a new session for the mapping execution, and therefore this method is more suitable for session tracing.

Note that the tracing method that is described in this Note, does not require the Control Center Service to be "Available".
