After Upgrading Database and JDBC from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 Intermittent ORA-01483 Errors Occur (Doc ID 465497.1)

Symptoms

A large application accesses the database through JDBC connections. It inserts LONG RAW data. Intermittently and infrequently ORA-01483 errors occurs.

The exception reported by JDBC is:

    java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-01483: invalid length for DATE or NUMBER bind variable
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwBatchUpdateException(DatabaseError.java:343)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement.executeBatch(OraclePreparedStatement.java:10720)
    at ...

The ORA-01483 occurs on the statement:

    INSERT INTO CUBEX (COL1, ...., COL20) VALUES (?,?,.....,?)

The ORA-01483 did not occur with the 10.2.0.2 database.

Changes

Upgraded the database from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3.
