How to Create Virtual Hosts in Portal 10.1.2.x / 10.1.4.x?

Goal

Scope

This note explains how to configure multiple VirtualHosts onto a single Portal environment.
The note also guides customers throughout with checks/tips in order to make sure that by the end, the configuration is fully operational.

Assumptions

The changes within this note are ONLY to be made at Midtier level.
It assumes also that customers will ONLY be using HTTP protocol and NOT HTTPS. HTTPS is outside of the scope of the note.

The following configuration is the starting point:-
- Infrastructure :
     - SSO URL : http://www.companylogin.com:7777/pls/orasso
- MiddleTier :
     - MiddleTier ORACLE_HOME : /home/oracle/mid/
     - OHS/Apache Listen Port : 7779
     - WebCache Listen Port : 7778
     - ServerName : company1.com
     - Portal URL : http://company1.com:7778/pls/portal
     - WebCache Manager : http://company1.com:9400/webcacheadmin

Purpose

The Portal should be accessed by the following URLs:-
- http://company1.com:7778/pls/portal - Default Product Install URL
- http://www.company1.com:7778/pls/portal - Virtual Host URL
- http://www.company1.com/pls/portal - Virtual Host URL (Port 80)
