How to avoid not a valid month error in csv file upload (Doc ID 466657.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 18, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Application Express (APEX) - Version 3.0.1.0.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When loading .csv file in APEX, a date field (dd-mon-yy) is converted
to varchar2 (30).

Text file (CSV) loading issue - on DATE column type
Path in APEX:
Home>Utilities>Data Load/Unload>Load>Load Data

All columns of file in matter are recognized correctly (step Load Data, Set Table Properties)
expect one -the column of DATE type ("15-Jun-07", so format is "dd-MMM-yy")
That column is recognized by APEX as VARCHAR2 column ...

Changing in that form "Data Type" to be DATE - either by setting "Format" of date as
"dd-MMM-yy" or leave "Format" as empty
getting in both cases error message:

ORA-01843: not a valid month ... for ALL rows trying to load into table (new table, been created
as part of this task)
