A website, characterized with a large number of logins, faced an increase in the number of sessions created in the session table PORTAL.WWCTX_SSO_SESSION$. A large number of sessions were created by users who had already closed their browser. These users did not use the logout functionality in Oracle Portal to terminate their session.
The session cleanup job was reconfigured to run twice every hour instead of once a day to ensure that the sessions from these users were removed from the session tables. After modification of the session cleanup job, all user sessions were terminated after 30 minutes, regardless whether the user was active or not.
The session cleanup job ctxjsub.sql was reconfigured with the following parameters :
- p_hours_old was changed to 0.5
- interval_hours was changed to 0.5
SQL> @ctxjsub 0.5 2008-01-08:11:00:00 YYYY-MM-DD:HH24:MI:SS 0.5
