Unable to See Tables under the IPM Security "Schema" Tab and Receive "Get Schemas ACC Error -2146984573" (Doc ID 549462.1)

Symptoms

When trying to view the Schemas tab in the IPM Security tool, the following error appears on screen:

Get Schemas ACC Error: -2146984573
Get Group ACC Error: Security Server: Failed to refresh Tables object.

At the same time, some or all of the following errors may be observed in the system logs:

Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.: -2147217900
InfoBrkr: The linked server could not be added to the cache. Documents.
Get Group ACC Error: Security Server: Failed to refresh Tables object.

After clearing the on-screen message, the Schemas table list is blank.

Changes

This error has been present after migrating the system to new hardware, but could occur at other times.
