"Type of data for new field value does not match defined data type" Error Occurs at IPM Package Complete (Doc ID 554679.1)

Symptoms

The IPM Production Client receives the following error upon completing a package using an "In Process" Visual Basic form.

Error: Type of data for new field value does not match defined data type: template: 2, field: 10,
type 1, received type: 10.
Class ALT::CComObject<class CFieldValues>::Commit

This happens normally when a user tries to input a different type of data into a package field. Sometimes it does complete successfully with the same type of data.
