Incorrect Numeric Characters Alignment when Subsetting Arial in Arabic Reports

Symptoms
Reports developed on MS Windows platform with Arial font and Arabic characters.
The report is ported to unix and has different alignment problems. To maintain Arabic language in generated reports, the NLS related parameters are set as follows in reports.sh :
The font metrics files (afm) are generated from the ttf files using ttf2pt1 as explained in following article :

When the afm files are generated as follows :
ttf2pt1 -e arial.ttf
The date fields with numbers are aligned correctly, but a text with "Underline" font has the line width too long. The output looks similar to following :
When the afm files are generated as follows :
ttf2pt1 -l plane+0x06 arial.ttf
this time the underline text is displayed correctly, however, the alignment of date fields are not correct with these "afm" files. An example output looks as follows :
