Oracle Portal makes extensive use of the table WWCTX_SSO_SESSION$ table. All accesses to the Portal site, including PUBLIC access, produce a row in this table not just login events and subsequent return visits will require regular reading of this table. In addition, other internal events will use this table for temporary data storage. Any problem or issue of maintenance of this table will have a site-wide effect on performance. A healthy is a happy Portal.
This note describes the role of this table and how to manage and maintain it to optimise the performance of Portal. It also contains some useful SQL statements for 10.x Database to help prove that there is an issue with the access to the WWCTX_SSO_SESSION$ table.
