Index Fields Vanish After Leaving Field (TAB or ENTER) in Capture

This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
During the indexing of a document, it appears that once an index field is populated, it "disappears" when the focus is changed to another index field using the tab or enter keys. Arrow keys do not display this behavior. The list of indexes is then shifted up on the screen and it is not possible to display the previous field.
