Dip Import Will Add And Modify, But Will Not Delete Entries. Dn Not Normalized. (Doc ID 603199.1)

Symptoms

After setting up SunOne/Iplanet DIP Synchronization to OID,  Adds and Changes work but Deletes Do Not Work.

Symptom:  IplanetImport.aud contains:

<changenumber> : Success : DELETE : * : Attempt to synchronize deletion. Entry is not
found. Ignore.

Symptom:  ImplanetImport.trc file contains:

Not able to construct DN

Can't find DN for entry to delete

Symptom

When performing renames using rdn (see rdn.ldif file below for example) in the Sun LDAP, the sync fails on the OID side with the following log errors:

newrdn: uid=myuser_a
deleteoldrdn: 1

IplanetImport.trc:
Exception Doing ModRDN operation : javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - Entry to be modified not found.]; remaining name 'cn=myuser_a,cn=users,dc=<COMPANY_NAME>,dc=com'
Entry cn=myuser_a,cn=users,dc=<COMPANY_NAME>,dc=com not found

(Note the log indeed shows the entry dn next to the "not found" message as shown, without an expected space in between them.)
