How to Start a OC4J Container Remotely In OAS 10.1.3.x from a J2SE client (Doc ID 734721.1)

You can shutdown an OPMN managed OC4J instance remotely using the OAS client side distribution's admin_client.jar utility as follows.

java -jar admin_client.jar
 oc4jadmin password -shutdown

However once shutdown there is no way to use the same utility to start the container up without using ASC or opmnctl from the server. This article will show you how to start an OC4J container remotely from a J2SE client without any client side required libraries.

Note: This script is not supported , so if you have issues you cannot rely on this code to work in your environment as it's not supported.
