Building Content Server Option Lists In Internet Explorer Slows Down Client Machine

Goal

During a check-in or update process, there are about 15 option lists that have a combined total of 2500 options. In Firefox this loads in the browser in approximately 2-3 seconds.  In Internet Explorer, this takes about 15-20 seconds and the screen just hangs on the client browser.  Is there a known issue with building options lists in Internet Explorer?
