Last updated on OCTOBER 31, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Forms - Version: to - Release: to
Oracle Jinitiator - Version: 1.6.10 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Important Note : At the time of writing this article (SEPT-2008) Sun Java Plug In (JPI) 1.6.0_10 was not officially released. This problem was reproduced using 1.6.0_10 RC2 (Release Candidate 2).  However, this problem will be still be present in the official production release of 1.6.0_10 when released. As 1.6.0_10 has not been officially release bug Sun MicroSystems, this version of the plug in has not been certified to be run with Oracle Forms 10.1.2 , but will be soon after Sun JPI 1.6.0_10 is officially released.

When running an Oracle WebForms application with Sun JPI 1.6.0_10 and dragging any Forms windows, the rendering or displaying of the window to it's new position is extremely slow. It takes a second or two to render the outline of the window, followed by a further few seconds of delay to draw the contents of the window.

Testing has also shown that this can occur on only some machines and is independent of the client platform (eg MS Windows XP or MS Vista). Furthermore, the problem does not occur using previous versions of the Sun JPI (eg, 1.6.0_07, 1.5.0 or 1.4.2) nor does it reproduce with Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.x

Moved to using Sun JPI 1.6.0_10 as the plug in to run Oracle WebForms.
