Goal

In an Oracle application server cluster, is there a way to make an application server not to receive new requests,
but to keep working on the current ones, when there is the need to shut it down for maintenance reasons which would just kill off any users connected to that container?

Is there a way of phasing out the servers so a gradual shutdown can be executed instead of an immediate one ?
