The purpose of this note is to simplify the installation process for SOA MLR#3 on WebLogic. SOA MLR#3 (Merge Label Request) is an accumulative patch, i.e. a collection of patches within a single patch process. It is the first MLR of this kind which can be installed on any of the application server platforms Oracle Application Server (OC4J), WebLogic, Websphere and JBoss. Previous MLRs could only be installed on OC4J. SOA MLR#3 contains patches for the SOA components BPEL Process Manager, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSB).  It can be downloaded from MetaLink using the patch number 7586063.

The installation of SOA MLR#3 on WebLogic involves following steps in two README files, the toplevel README.txt file provided for all application servers and the Readme.txt file specific to the WebLogic part of the patch installation. This note provides a simplified overview of this process and some additional information missing in the README files. This note should be used in conjunction with the README files and does not replace them.

This note also provides information on rolling back the patch after it has been applied.

This note is intended for system administrators planning to install the SOA MLR#3 patch on WebLogic.

While the note describes only the WebLogic installation process, it is also relevant to the same installation on Websphere and JBoss and contains information for users planning to install SOA MLR#3 on these platforms too.
