Symptoms
Intermittent error when trying to run a report on Oracle Application Server 10g rel2.
Showjobs URL displays the generic error REP-501 "Unable to connect to specified database"
If the same report is executed at a later time, it works successfully.
If the reports server is bounced, it works for a time before it reproduces again intermittently.
