JRockit 8.1 - Unable to start jrockit management server if java security manager is enabled (Doc ID 773275.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 05, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle JRockit / JRockit / 8.1
Information in this document applies to any platform

Goal

If a Java application is started with security managed enabled or if the application enabled the security manager in
the code while running, then the JRockit management server will not work/will not allow the management console to
attach to it.

If you start JRockit like this:
F:\810\jrockit81sp1_preload7\bin>java -Xmanagement -Djava.security.manager -version

You get:
ERROR: failed to initialize class com.jrockit.management.rmp.RmpSocketListener.
java version "1.4.1_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_03)
BEA WebLogic JRockit(R) Virtual Machine (build 8.1sp1-1.4.1_03-viking-Load7-win32-sthqa28-20030619-1312, Native
Threads, Generational Concurrent Garbage Collector)

You can see that the management server is not able to start.
