Content Server Can Not Call or Execute an Executable .EXE File, Like "DynamicWatermark.exe" (Doc ID 780377.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Content Server cannot call or execute an executable.

Example: DynamicWatermark.exe is called when the native file link is selected.  The url would look something like this:

https://system.companyname.com/qa/idccgi/nph-DynamicWatermark.exe?pdf=%000013.pdf

In the above case, IIS is required to execute Dynamic Watermark to place a watermark on the presented file.  The error message is 'page cannot be displayed'.

The underlying problem is IIS could not run the DynamicWatermark.exe.

Changes

System Admin for the Windows OS or IIS Admin, installed URLScan or changed the configuration of URLScan.  This may be caused by other security software that controls IIS.
