HTTP 500 Error - Not Able To Access the Application Server Console Via VPN Connection (Doc ID 786151.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 13, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version 10.1.3.0.0 to 10.1.3.4.0 [Release AS10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using Standalone OC4J 10.1.3.x on an external server (Eg: IP = 10.145.68.46) with default
settings, the Application Server Console (AS Console) can be accessed with a URL like this,

http://<host>:<port>/em

from the local network.

However, with a VPN client based connection to this server, when you try access the AS Console an "HTTP 500 internal server error, website cannot display the page" error occurs.

The relevant ports used by OC4J are opened in the firewall.

Other pages may work correctly, including the HTTP Server welcome page and custom
applications. Only the AS Console page appears to be affected.
