SSL Handshake Failed Error Accessing Web Service WSDL URL from an Omniportlet (Doc ID 799423.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

An Omniportlet is being used to connect to a Web Service. This is a third party Web Service residing on a separate external environment.
The URL specified is an SSL WSDL URL e.g. https://<HOSTNAME>/templates/webservice/servicexx.cfc?wsdl
This error is seen:

SSL handshake failed for HTTPS connection to the specified URL. The certificate file needs to be augmented.

Sample steps to reproduce:

1.  Add the Omniportlet to a page.
2.  Press 'Define' link.
3.  Select 'Web Service' type.
4.  For WSDL URL, enter the URL for external Web Servce you want to access: https://<HOSTNAME>?wsdl
