Search Results Show Blank Page if the Metadata Field Options Contain Spaces

This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
In expanded search form, when you select 'Single content Discussion' for Discussion type, The text box just left to the combobox is filled with the value "Single Content" included the double quotes. That is why the search result does not return any result while the are discussions on the system. If you remove the double quotes, the search works fine.
The issue can also be replicated/tested with custom metadata fields.
The issue happens only for the options containing different words having a space between them.
Example: Single content Discussion, Content server etc.
The issue never happens for the options with a single word in them.
Example: Content, Single etc.
