Getting ORA-01461 With 9i Oracle Database (Doc ID 824636.1)

With Database version following error thrown while inserting characters to a table consist of two varchar2 columns, It occurs with 11g and 10g JDBC drivers, but no issue observed with JDBC driver.
Error : java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01461 : can bind a LONG value only for insert
into a LONG column
