When Using Java 1.5 or 1.6, Component Wizard and Archiver Browse Functionality Is Broken (Doc ID 831935.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2023

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 7.5.1 to 7.5.2 [Release Stellent]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

When using Java 1.5 or 1.6 for the Content Server, the Browse button doesn't work in the Archiver and Component Wizard applications. It works fine for the Archiver applet from the browser, but not the application.

To see the problem:

Start Archiver from the bin directory, and select Edit -> Add from the menu. Check the Copy From option and then click the Browse button. This brings up a window where you should be able to browse to a file, but nothing responds. You cannot even click Cancel, and you have to go back to the command line to kill the application.

The same thing happens with Component Wizard.  However, BatchLoader doesn't have the problem, and you are able to browse to the file system through BatchLoader.

The problem occurs when running with Java 1.5 and Java 1.6.  The problem does not occur when running with Java 1.4
