Purpose
It has been discovered that there are some password entry related issues existing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 5 (RHEL5) systems, and similar environments such as Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 also. Situations arise where you cannot enter passwords in Java based GUIs, such as when creating a new WebLogic domain for use by Oracle Identity Manager (OIM). This Note discusses the symptoms, cause and offers a solution.
Scope
This Tech Note applied to Linux based installations of OIM, and specifically Linux systems based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 5 only. Version 4 is not affected.
