BPA Publisher Update Fails To Update a Web Export - Errors: The procedure was canceled and Unable to create export (Doc ID 882576.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 03, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Business Process Analysis Suite - Version: 10.1.3.4.0 to 11.1.1.1.0 - Release: to 11gR1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A BPA database profile which the Web Export fails to update is not visible from BPA Architect or BPA Publisher.  Any attempt to recreate the database's profile in BPA results in an error.  The problem may only exist with just one database, no other ones may be affected.  Meaning that you can publish updates to other BPA databases fine from Architect.

When trying to publish the failing database it seems to be corrupted so the publish tries to create rather than update the export.  However the create fails since it already exists.

You can publish a brand new export successfully from the database.  It just seems that the existing profile is corrupted.  It can't be deleted or updated and it is not visible from the Publisher.

The error messages from the failing export will be as follows from the Architect GUI, first:

The procedure was canceled.

Second:

Unable to create export.

Checking the Publisher export logfile at $BPA_HOME/BPServer/tomcat/webapps/businesspublisher/log/export-10.1.3.4.xxxxx_x.log will show an error like this:

2009-08-20T23:00:30,114 WARNING  Version 10.1.3.4.271679
Project: Could not create export: export 'Test' already exists in the database.
