When using Cdb_devkit , demoservlet.java fails to load - Error: "FDK Configuration not initialized! (Doc ID 888994.1)

Goal

When using Cdb_devkit in a web application , the demoservlet.java class of the devkit is not
executed. When the following statement is executed -

HttpAuthManager ham = HttpAuthManager.getInstance();

It results in the follwoing error - Error: "FDK Configuration not initialized! Delay this call
until the node and servers are initialized!"

Do we need any additional configuration / initialization on the content db side ?
