How To Configure An OVD 10g Adapter To Failover To When A Main Adapter (Joined) Fails? (Doc ID 943071.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 29, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 10.1.4.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 10.1.4.3.0.

An existing "<JOIN_ADAPTER>" is currently joined to a "<DB_ADAPTER>" which returns a couple of attributes desired, such as mail and mobile. The "<JOIN_ADAPTER>" has the "DB_ADAPTER>" as one of the secondary adapters.

How to add/configure a new database (DB) adapter to failover to when the "DB_ADAPTER>" fails?

In other words, have those attributes retrieved from the "DB_ADAPTER>," but if that adapter fails due to the backend databases being down, would like to retrieve those attributes from another/new DB adapter configured to a non-replicated and entirely different database.

Similarly, would also like to have the same capability for LDAP adapters.
