CheckList of Known Issues For OID ODSM Page Launching / Loading / Displaying Problems Or Errors (Doc ID 972416.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 11, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This article provides items to check and potentially resolve problems launching, loading or displaying Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) pages / urls, including but not limited to the following cases:

Case 1.  Enter the ODSM url in the browser (i.e., http://<hostname>:<port>/odsm).
ODSM page fails to load with no error message, just the hour glass is displayed and nothing happens.
Or, the ODSM screen is displayed, but after clicking on "Create New Connection" link, the cursor changes to an hourglass and nothing happens.

Or, the browser returns error:

Error 404--Not Found

Case 2.  Using Internet Explorer (IE) 8, the ODSM url works, and able to login as cn=orcladmin, but then it shows a blue screen with the tabs (Home, Data Browser, Schema, etc.) towards the bottom of the screen.  Clicking on any of the tabs does nothing / nothing happens.  If right clicking on any tab and choosing "Open In New Tab," it launches on another tabbed window but it only shows a page with a blue background and with the a dialog box message titled "Message from webpage" with the following:

oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-12000: State ID in request is invalid for the current session.

For more information, please see the server'slog for
an entry beginning with: Server Exception during PPR, #5

Reviewing the corresponding log under $WL_HOME/user_projects/domains/<DOMAIN_NAME>/servers/<SERVER_NAME>/logs/<SERVER_NAME>-diagnostic.log, it contains:

[2009-12-09T16:23:15.756-06:00] [wls_ods1] [ERROR] [] [oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.config.rich.RegistrationConfigurator] [tid: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: <ECID>] [APP: odsm#11.1.1.1.0] Server Exception during PPR, #5[[
oracle.adf.controller.internal.AdfcIllegalStateException: oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-12000: State ID in request is invalid for the current session.
at oracle.adfinternal.controller.state.ControllerState.synchronizeStatePart2(ControllerState.java:537)
...<etc, etc>...

Or, frames, menus, etc., in ODSM do not display correctly with Internet Explorer 7 and/or IE8.  Menus may be missing or blank page is shown.

Case 3.  Able to reach the Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control (EM FMW) website ok, i.e.:
http://<hostname>:<port>/em

But the ODSM page fails to load, i.e. 11g   http://<hostname>:<port>/odsm   fails with:

From IE browser:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

From Firefox browser:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at
   <hostname>:<port>

Case 4.  ODSM page fails to load, i.e. http://<hostname>:<port>/odsm fails is IE browser with:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

The WLS Managed Server shows as up and running in the WLS Console ok.
Running command   netstat -an | grep <port>   shows the port number is in use with one Listen and two Established connections, however, the connections list the loopback address 127.0.0.1 rather than the typical physical hostname/IP address.
