Symptoms

Oracle Identity Federation (OIF) integrated with WNA-enabled Oracle SSO is generating HTTP 500 error during IDP-initiated or SP-initiated federated login.

If the URL is retried again in the same browser session the error does not occur and the resource can be accessed.

The problem is specific to WNA-enabled Oracle SSO authentication engine.

The OIF federation.log shows a NullPointerException. For example:

09/11/30 12:29:33: ERROR oracle.security.fed.controller.ApplicationController.processServletRequest() - java.lang.NullPointerException
