ORA 1438 Signaled When Using The ODI XML Driver External Database Feature On An Oracle Database Schema (Doc ID 989165.1)

Symptoms

When using version 10.1.3.5.2 of the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) XML Driver with the External database feature to store an  XML file in a relational database schema (in this case an Oracle schema) the following message is signaled :

Error: ORA 1438
Text: value larger than specified precision allows for this column
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cause: When inserting or updating records, a numeric value was entered that exceeded the precision defined for the column
