The Portion of the Java Heap that holds meta-data describing user classes that are not part of the Java language, i.e. objects describing classes and methods are stored in the Permanent Generation area. Applications with large code-base can quickly fill up this segment of the heap which will cause java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen no matter how high your -Xmx and how much memory you have on the machine.


Symptoms

On Content Server 10.1.4.0.0 our Site Studio page becomes unavailable and the following error is generated:
