Is RSB Required If RIB Is Already Installed For Oracle Retail Integration? (Doc ID 2139295.1)

Last updated on MAY 26, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Service Backbone - Version 14.0.1 and later
Oracle Retail Integration Bus - Version 14.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Is it required to install Retail Service Backbone (RSB) if Retail Integration Bus (RIB) is already installed for Oracle Retail Integration Purpose?

Say a retailer have installed the below applications as part of Oracle Retail implementation :
RMS, RWMS, AIP, RPM, Allocation and SIM.

So the plan is to use RIB as the integration infrastructure for above applications to be able to talk to each other, but it seems another integrator, RSB is also available for similar purpose.

Considering the need to integrate only above mentioned applications and only use out of the box integration endpoints for Oracle Retail Applications, do one need to install and configure RSB when RIB is already in place?
