How to Clean Up DMS Message Buildup (Doc ID 1037183.1)

Goal

This article covers the procedure to clean up Dynamo Messaging System (DMS) message buildup. The DMS message tables may fill up with unhandled messages causing a performance degradation of the SQL JMS system over time. This can affect the performance of the production site as well as the performance of the database.

This occurs when extra DMS clients are registered as subscribers to messages but the clients never run. Messages destined for these clients build up since the messages aren't being read, processed, and deleted.

Note: After cleaning up DMS messages, you may want to consider identifying the root cause, if not known already. On of the most common causes for DMS buildup is server names registered in DMS but no longer active, either due to decommissioning of the server or renaming of the server.
