Query with EQL filter fails with "Record filter parse error: syntax error" warning (Doc ID 1042782.1)

A query containing an Endeca Query Language (EQL) expression fails to return any results. The dgraph error log shows a WARN-level message for this EQL expression, along these lines:

WARN 07/10/09 15:56:04.122 UTC DGRAPH {dgraph}: Record filter parse error: syntax error
Parsed URL filter "collection()/record[Length_(Metric)=endeca:dval-by-id(126)//id]":

All dimension names and IDs specified in the filter expression are correct.
