Reclassification Of A Product Is Not Updating Dates On 'DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE' As Expected, Impacting Income (Doc ID 1088845.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 11, 2020

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The reclassification (reclass) of a product where it moved the Items from one Merchandise Level DEAL to another is not updating the active & close dates on the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE records as expected. These dates are then not utilised by the 'prepost dealact pre' batch process which will result in deal income calculation issues for the following scenarios:

1) After entering the reclass of a product and running the future cost batches the ‘Active Date’ on the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE records created are set to the start date of the deal. This implies that income for the deal could be calculated prior to the reclass having taken place.
2) The reclass was entered for a date in the future (i.e. end of the week) and as the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE records are created immeadiately but the old deal remains, duplicate income will be generated (as both deals now qualify).
3) On investigating the use of the active date for the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE  record in the 'prepost dealact pre' batch we noticed that the driving SQL is using the DEAL_HEAD active date rather than the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE active date. This is incorrect.
4) Where an item has been moved from one deal to another due to reclassification we would expect the item to qualify for the 'From' deal up to the point of reclassification and the 'To' deal beyond this date. However, once the reclass batch process and the subsequent future cost batch has taken place the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE records will have been deleted for the ‘From’ deal. Therefore, any late transactions for the deal prior to the reclass date can no longer be attributed to the 1st deal. Should the DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE records not remain until the number of ‘Add Deal Reporting Days’ has been exceeded with the CLOSE_DATE on the explode record set to the reclass date on the 'From' deal and the 'prepost dealact pre' changed to consider the close date on DEAL_ITEM_LOC_EXPLODE where it is earlier that the deal_head date?
