MTA Framework Did Not Compile/Execute Correctly on Linux (Doc ID 1097840.1)

Symptoms

Using the mta_sample (pin_mta_test.c) and the Makefile supplied with BRM to develop a custom MTA application, the executable provided got an immediately segmentation fault.

Because, MTA framework did not compile/execute correctly on Linux.

Step to reproduce:
==============
1. cd $PIN_HOME/opt/portal/7.3/source/apps/mta_sample
2. run 'make all', the pin_mta_test and pin_mta_test.o are generated
3. run ./pin_mta_test, and there is the "Segmentation fault".
