Goal

The purpose of this article is to guide you through the creation of a "first pass" template in Whitehill Designer.  A "first pass" template is a template that modifies the source file, then puts the source file back into the source folder for further processing.  There are many instances where this technique can be very valuable, such as cleaning up a report before the batch is broken up, doing SQL statements or Data Joins that will then require further modifications, utilizing complex move rules or delete rules, or adding text to a source file with the Modify rule.

This article outlines 7 steps to remember when creating a "first pass" template and shows the creation of a "first pass" template from start to end.
