Symptoms of the problem will include frequent reporting of the following "shmAttach" error being reported from any process attempting to increment a statistic.  /var/adm/messages will constantly be flooded with a specific error message like the following :

Dec 27 04:20:20 server_name slee_acs: [ID 675952 user.error] slee_acs(4775) ERROR: shmAttach: Cannot get semID from semKey 6565082
Dec 27 04:20:21 server_name ussd: [ID 675952 user.error] ussd(4778) ERROR: shmAttach: Cannot get semID from semKey 6565082

The error also reflects the fact that statistics are failing to be incremented which will affect the accuracy of figures reported by the platform.

This problem can be a result of several factors including:
  •  Starting / stopping the SLEE as the incorrect user.
  •  smsStatsDeamon or smsStatsDaemonRep is not running.
  •  Statistics shared memory area is corrupt or unreadable.
This document deals with the steps necessary for the recovery due to the SLEE being started as the wrong user.
