ETM - Database, Zone And Business Service Conflicts With & Character (Doc ID 1188245.1)

Symptoms

We have a Person Name in the database with an ampersand in it, the zones and business services that retrieve that name are converting each instance of the ampersand to &. This is a necessary step for a Business Service since it uses XML, and & is a reserved character in XML. But to get the value from the database to the Business Service, we need to first pull it into a Zone, which also changes each & into &.

The end result is that our forms validation, which needs to verify that the name on the form matches the Person Name in the database, is failing because it is comparing the form value "TEST & COMPANY" against the retrieved value "TEST & COMPANY".

I have two suggestions for the fix:

1) The zone that retrieves the name from the database should return the & as is, without converting it to &
or
2) The business service should recognize the string "&" and leave the & alone.
