Network Processor runs out of memory and becomes unresponsive due to alarm flooding

The network processor starts showing out of memory faults and  finally shuts down. There are a very high number of "Configuration failed validation" faults being raised at the time.

The logs can be analyzing using commands similar to the following:

$ grep "20100423-13.*Raised fault.*Configuration failed validation" networkprocessor.log.3 > ConfigValdsErrors
$ wc -l ConfigValdsErrors
14629 ConfigValdsErrors

The above command shows the number of faults in a given period.   For the hour "13:00" there where 14,629 faults raised.
