FRM-40200 - 'Field is protected against update' Message When Trying To Update Project Code (Doc ID 1197514.1)

Goal

Customer wants to change the Project Code for a study in the Clinical Studies form.
However, the front end does not allow them to change the Project Code, encountering the following warning message:

'FRM-40200 - Field is protected against update'

They would like to know whether they can change the project code for this study from the backend.
If yes, what is the SQL for that change?  Can this be done and is this supported?
