Full Resyncs Are Failing With Error "CRITICAL: Lost connection to the server." (Doc ID 1208595.1)

Last updated on MAY 02, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Attempts to perform a Full Resynchronisation between a Service Management System (SMS) and a Service Logic Controller (SLC).

When the full resync is running, after a period of time, it fails with the following error in the updateLoader log on the SLC (which is found in /IN/service_packages/SMS/tmp/updateLoader.log):

smsCompareResyncClient(19981) CRITICAL: Lost connection to the server. The current resync has failed. The client will now await another connection from the server. IOException: errno 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable): Connection closed by foreign host

Changes

This issue was seen when attempting to perform a Full Resync between the SMS and the SLC.  This is
done (under advisement by Oracle) by changing the updateLoader wrapper script on the SLC, to use the "-resync" flag when invoking the updateLoader binary.  For example:

/IN/service_packages/SMS/bin/updateLoaderStartup.sh

. /IN/service_packages/SMS/.profile-scp
echo "`date` - Waiting for DB SCP"

pid=""
while [ -z "$pid" ] ; do
    pid=`ps -ef|grep "ora_pmon_SCP"|awk '$8!="grep"{print$2}'`
    if [ -z "$pid" ] ; then
        echo "..."
        sleep 30
    fi
done
echo "`date` - DB SCP is ready"
echo "`date` - Waiting for Replication Cfg"
while [ ! -f "/IN/service_packages/SMS/etc/replication.config" ] ; do
    echo "..."
    sleep 30
done
echo "`date` - Replication Cfg is ready"
exec /IN/service_packages/SMS/bin/updateLoader -nodeid 320 -resync
