MAP v1 Concatenated SMS Fails If Only One SRI-SM Is Sent For All Message Parts

(Doc ID 1233117.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.

When sending a concatenated SMS, only the first part arrives for some particular SMSCs in the network when using MAP v1.

Rest of the SMS is never delivered.

Depending on the software level, one of the following error messages may be appearing for such scenarios :

xmsTrigger(11045) ERROR: Single SMS Failure: Failed to extract sm-RP-DA (SCA/IMSI/LMSI), sm-RP-OA (SCA/msisdn) or sm-RP-UI from MAP v2 ForwardSM.

or :

xmsTrigger(9219) ERROR: Single SMS Failure: RIMS responded with protocol failure: MapTransaction (originating) - MessageType=SMPP(1), MapVersion=3, Segmented=true, A-party=, B-party=, i.MSC id={ton=2,npi=0,addr="64700700700"}, Invoke-id=-1, TCAP Dialog id=0, Begin/Abort-Delta=<no abort received>, State=MO-awaitingRIMS.

Addition of new SMSCs in your network can cause this behavior as some SMSC do use this message sequence, whereas some others don't.
