mshttpd Webmail/Convergence/UWC Unresponsive msprobe Calling for Restart (Doc ID 1240234.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 10, 2016

Applies to:

Communications Express for Oracle Communications - Version 6.1 and later
Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.2.0 to 6.3 [Release 5.2 to 6.3]
Oracle Communications Convergence - Version 1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users experience poor response time or inability to log in to Webmail -- applies to old Messenger Express, Comms Express (aka UWC), and Convergence.

In the watcher log file, you find:

[<date/time>] Received request to restart: store imap pop http
[<date/time>] Connecting to watcher ...
[<date/time>] Stopping http server <pid> ....... done
[<date/time>] Stopping pop server ...

In the default log, you find:

[<date/time>] <hostname> msprobe[<pid>]: General Critical: HTTP server is
not responding
[<date/time>] <hostname> msprobe[<pid>]: General Critical: mshttpd restart requested

Additionally, there is a core dump from the mshttpd process, but it matches the date/time of the "Stopping http server" message in the watcher log file.  Therefore it is not the primary problem.  The core dump is a result of the restart request, not the cause of it.
