SCTP Congested and Dropping Outbound Packet (Doc ID 1243394.1)

Symptoms

1. Service Logic Controller (SLC) slow in responding with the following type of symptoms:

2. Signalling gateway point of view during SLC problem: SIGTRAN connection to the SLC as being inactive/down.

3. SIGTRAN log on SLC reports errors following congestion errors in the /IN/service_packages/SLEE/tmp/SIGTRAN.log:

Jun 24 12:01:07.000305 sua_if(5333) WARNING: {401004} sctp:xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx:yy:XXXX.XXXX.XXXX.XXXX:YY:Congested; dropping outbound packet

Occurrence of these errors may have significantly increased compared with previous days.

Take Sun Explorer and memory check regarding server hang and raise problem with Oracle Sun.  Refer to <Note 1018748.1> on how to run Sun Explorer.

Sun Explorer analysis feedback from Sun:

Synopsis: ip:sctp holds mutex while calling untimeout(): hang deadlock Solution: 138888-02 (Released on 08 Jan 2009) - obsolete patch Latest release: 139555-08 (Released on 07 May 2009) Current kernel release installed on the system: 137137-09 (Released on 10 Nov 2008). Description: This is kernel patch with a large number of dependencies patches and will need to be updated by applying patch bundle.
