Malformed libperl.a In The ThirdParty Installation For BRM 7.4 (Doc ID 1300906.1)

Last updated on MAY 21, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management - Version 7.4.0.0.0 to 7.4.0.0.0 [Release 7.4.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

$PIN_HOME/ThirdParty/perl/5.8.0/lib/5.8.0/i686-linux/CORE/libperl.a is a malformed archive. This is library one depends on to compile some of custom in-house BRM 7.4 related C source binaries.

> cd ThirdParty-7.3.1/perl/5.8.0/lib/5.8.0/i686-linux/CORE
> nm libperl.a
> nm: libperl.a: Malformed archive

Looking over things, something unusual was noticed. All files in this directory have the date Nov 23, 2006 "except" two: libperl.a and config.h, which had the date and time stamp of the day when the install was ran. This suggested that maybe the BRM installer is configuring and compiling this library, as it installs. If that's the case, there may be some environment switches or path settings that could interfere with this.
