This document introduces a new customer process for help with system sizing for VCP Applications on ANY release
VCP Product Management has made available a sizer for various products in the VCP applications
Sizer templates are currently available for:

As of February 2014, we have updated the sizing process.
The VCP sizing process has been included in the overall Oracle sizing engine and has it’s own process steps that have been greatly enhanced to improve results and information provided on sizing.
The Value Chain Planning - Reference Sizing Tool (RAS) provides Capacity & Deployment planning for the Value Chain Planning customers. It is part of your early sales cycle to qualify, scope and budget your opportunity. It provides a System Sizing for Oracle Software on Oracle Hardware as well as competitor hardware. The tool provides guidelines on what the customer should consider for deployment of Value Chain Planning, as well as a comparison to Oracle hardware. The tool will advise on suitable hardware and software configuration based on the user responses to a series of questions related to the customer requirements. The more accurate the input, the more accurate the results will be.
The output reports can be used as a sizing estimate. Most typical scenario is for a System Integrator (SI) to provide the inputs based on the customer’s implementation strategy.
With a unified methodology across all Oracle software and hardware, RAS supports greenfield as well as consolidation or hardware refresh opportunities. The extremely quick turnover and what-if scenarios enables you to help guide you through the sales-implementation cycle. Results displayed are estimates based on benchmark results produced by Oracle and best practices gained over the years from customer support and feedback.
Value Chain Planning Reference Sizing Tool (RAS)
The RAS Sizer enables you (or your SI) to request the sizing questionnaire so you can input parameters on your laptop before you send them to your point of contact. If you would like to perform the sizing yourself after defining an opportunity name in the system you can do that as well.
The tool gives you flexibility to change the base hardware to those most suitable for the customer. The Hardware supported include:
- Competitor's hardware
The sizing report can be generated and details shared with customers. The tool makes it easy for you to work with various scenarios like projected increases in item-organization to evaluate High Availability configurations and to compare various hardware configurations for database and middle tier based on your requirements.
The RAS tool supports other products besides Value Chain Planning, enabling you to combine sizing information and give a consolidated view.
