What is the default value in a post load transformation rule used for?

1. Create a new post load transformation rule as a stored procedure
2. Define a custom parameter and specify a default value (Batch ID and MISdate are standard mandatory parameters, define a third custom parameter)
3. Define a batch task as transformation and choose the transformation created in step 1
4. Do not define parameters

Expected behavior is that the stored procedure is called with the default values specified at Step 2. However, it appears that it is called without the custom parameter unless the value for the parameter is not specified in task parameters.

What is the use of defining default values for parameters when defining a post transformation rule?
