User Cannot Create A Product Group When Given Permission To Only One Type Of Product Group

Symptoms

In Store Inventory Management (SIM) system, find that when a user is given 'Product Group Create' permission for ONLY ONE type of Product Group (PG) , the PG screen becomes un-editable.  However, when the user has permission to create one or more types of Product Groups, the screen is editable.

Steps to recreate:

  1. Have one 'Super User' id/password and two user ids/passwords for 'Manager' role
  2. Log into SIM as Super User
  3. Navigate to 'Admin' -> 'Security' -> 'Role Maintenance'
  4. Click on the 'Manager' role
  5. Click on 'Data Permissions'
  6. Ensure that only the following permission is given to the 'Manager' role:
    • Product Group Type: 'Unit And Amount'
  7. Ensure that none of the other Product Group Types are allowed for this role
  8. Log out of SIM as Super User
  9. Log back into SIM using the Manager ID 1 from Step 1 above
  10. Navigate to 'Admin' -> 'Product Group' -> 'Create'
  11. Notice that none of the fields in the PG create screen are editable
  12. Log out of SIM and log back in using the Super User id
  13. Repeat Step 3 to Step 6, but this time add another PG type (for example: 'Product Group Type' of 'Item Request', in addition to 'Unit and Amount')
  14. Repeat Step 8 to Step 10
  15. Now notice that the user can pick the PG Type from the drop down, and all fields are editable.
